Mainline Televising FAQ
What is a mainline sewer inspection?
A mainline inspection sends a remote-controlled crawler camera through the sewer main from one manhole to the next. It records every foot of pipe and the operator codes each defect, so you know the condition of the line before you clean, repair, line or replace it.
What size mains can you televise?
Sanitary and storm mains from 6 inches up to 120 inches, in clay, concrete, PVC, ductile and corrugated pipe.
How is the inspection coded?
Our operators are NASSCO PACP certified. Every defect gets a standard PACP code with its footage and clock position, so engineers can rank lines and build repair and lining bid documents straight from the report.
Do you have to clean the line first?
For a usable inspection, usually yes. Grease, roots and debris hide defects and can stop the crawler. Our jet/vac crews clean ahead of the camera, and most city programs schedule cleaning and televising together.
Can you inspect new construction before acceptance?
Yes. We televise new mains for cities, engineers and contractors so sags, offset joints, debris and damaged pipe are caught before the city accepts the line.
Can you televise before and after lining?
Yes. Pre-lining inspections find the defects and service connections, and post-lining video confirms the liner and reinstated services.
What do we get after the inspection?
Line-by-line PACP reports with still images, footage and grade readouts, plus full video. Everything is stored in POSM Central, where it can be shared and downloaded, and program cities see it on Diamond Maps.
